홍우인은 언어로 포착할 수 없는 것, 이해를 초과하는 것에 꾸준한 관심을 기울여 왔다. 다양한 미적 장치를 통해 대상을 이해 불가능한 영역으로 전치한다. 이를 통해 세계를 확고부동한 필연적 모델로 바라보는 것에서 벗어나 보다 유연하고 개방된 체계로서의 가능성을 탐색한다.

Hong Wooin has maintained a sustained interest in that which escapes language and exceeds understanding. Through the use of various aesthetic devices, the artist displaces subjects into realms of the incomprehensible. In doing so, the work resists viewing the world as a fixed and deterministic model, instead exploring its potential as a more fluid and open system.
